As much as most of us love, value and want family portraits– for many of us, the process of having our pictures taken can still be daunting. For some, the prospect of having our portrait taken can bring up feelings of discomfort or insecurity. Others of us deal with physical conditions or limitations that can impact our session experience.

I'm in your corner, and I understand those hesitations! Think of me as a trusted ally and experienced advisor who wants to make this process easy and enjoyable for you!

If you can share with me any hesitations or concerns you have about your upcoming session, I can plan for posing, directing, editing and processing accordingly!

Excited? Excited but nervous about how you will look in pictures? Dreading the process, but determined to get through it, because family pictures are so important to you? Sharing your feelings about your session up front will help me know best how to approach your session.

Family life and family relationships can be complex, even in the most loving and stable families! If there are current tensions between certain siblings, a complex or still-developing connection due to a blended family dynamic, etc.– making me aware of these factors that may impact your family's comfort during your session enables me to be discreetly sensitive in my posing and directing.

Not everyone is excited about having portraits taken, and the reasons can vary wildly! Please feel free to share these factors with me, so that I can plan accordingly.

Most of the time, the physical characteristics that make us feel insecure about ourselves are things that others either don't notice, or actually consider to be positives. If there is anything that tends to make you not like pictures of yourself, please let me know so that I can pose and direct you in a way that best accommodates those factors.

If you have a family member with autism who struggles with the typical eye-contact-and-smile poses, a child with IBS who needs a location with bathrooms nearby, or a family member with knee or back issues that may make seated poses uncomfortable– sharing these situations with me will empower me to plan your session in a way that is comfortable for all involved.
