Hello! I'm laura

your west virginia portrait photographer

A fifth-generation, dyed-in-the-wool West Virginian, I was born and raised in the Valley a few minutes outside Charleston. After having gotten to travel in six other countries and over a dozen other states, I can indeed confirm that there's no place on earth quite like West Virginia.

I am so thankful to be living, working, and raising my four precious children with my husband Chris, here in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

My father, a West Virginian small business owner of nearly forty years, instilled his classical work ethic and his passion for exceptional service in me as a child. When I would get to visit his big corner office as a little girl, I would sit in the side chair he kept for me and listen in fascination as he chatted with clients and distributors on the phone. It didn’t matter that I understood little of the actual content of their discussions (my father's field, fiberglass engineering, was over my head as a child.) His kindness, professionalism, and the individual care he gave to every person he spoke to, made a profound impression on me that has shaped the way I approach every client of my own, nearly thirty years later.

In 2016, I brought my fifteen years of experience in client care across various fields to the photography industry, where I have been happily serving West Virginian families since.

Although my photography experience is broad, I currently specialize in the areas I love most– families, seniors and children.

It is my passion to provide you with an individualized, stress-free photography experience that produces timeless, high-quality images that will add beauty and joy to your life, and continue to grow in value over time.

Please get in touch, and let me know how I can serve you and your family. I can't wait to meet you.

My approach

Each of my clients is unique– and therefore, every portraiture session is unique as well.

From the shoot location, to the date we choose, to the arrangement and posing of each image-- every decision made in planning and executing your session is made with you in mind.

I take a true-to-the moment approach to shooting and editing. This means that while my images are consistent in quality across the board, no two sessions' images will look exactly alike. I do not use presets or filters, or attempt to make every session fit a pre-defined "aesthetic." I edit each image from each session carefully by hand, in accordance with the "mood of the moment" – the best version of what the lighting, colors and scenery felt like on that day, in the setting of our session.

Working with me translates to an end product of authentic, beautiful images that reflect the best of who you are.
